How should parents choose glasses for their children?
The purpose of cycloplegic refraction is to paralyze the ciliary muscle in the eye, eliminating the false myopia caused by excessive accommodation in children. The data obtained from cycloplegic refraction represents the true degree of myopia. After obtaining the degree of myopia through cycloplegic refraction, appropriate glasses should be selected for the child.
The following points should be noted when fitting glasses:
First, the power of the glasses must be the same as the data on the optometry sheet.
Second, choose a suitable frame according to the child's face shape and size and pupillary distance.
Third, the geometric center distance of the lenses in both eyes is consistent with the pupillary distance. The lenses should be transparent, free of cracks and spots.
Fourth, after wearing the glasses, they should be at an angle of 10-20 degrees to the face. This facilitates viewing distant objects as well as reading.
